Law of Conservation of Mass: During chemical reaction atoms are never destroyed or created. This means that mass should not be lost or gained during a chemical reaction. 

“质量守恒定律”:化学反应过程中,原子不会遭到破坏,也不会增减,因此参与反应的物质总质量不会增加或减少。

 

The aim: This experiment is to investigate and prove the “Law of Conservation of Mass”. Students had to measure sodium carbonate and mix it with diluted hydrochloric acid, one in a open system and another one in a closed system.  Their results, observations and calculations would verify this law.
实验目的:探索和证明“质量守恒定律”。同学们需将碳酸钠称重,将之与稀盐酸混合后分别放在密闭与敞开体系中。通过实验观察、计算得出结果,而同学们将会论证出这一定律。


Research Question: If the balloon is placed on top of the flask before the reaction, then will the change in mass be the same as when the balloon is not on top of the flask?  

研究问题:若实验前将气球放置在烧瓶口,那么化学反应后的质量变化是和气球没有放置在烧瓶口的质量变化是一样的吗?


Students were able to follow all scientific method steps and they successfully proved this law.

所有同学都遵循了科学的研究方法与步骤并成功地证明了定律~


After seeing the lab, everyone would be impressed that:
