Creative Thinking and Problem Solving Classes with Key Competencies

Creative Thinking and Problem Solving is a required course in grade 10 and 11. It will also be required for our grade 12 World School program students. This course connects with Personal and Global leadership, and both courses are a unique part of our Maple Leaf World School curriculum. UKEnic, an international accrediting body, recently commented that these courses are important and help students to develop the skills required to be successful in the global world today.

创新思考与问题解决是枫叶世界学校课程10年级、11年级与12年级必修课程,与个人与全球领导力课程紧密相连,共同组成枫叶世界学校课程的特色部分。国际认证组织,英国国家认证信息中心UKEnic评价道:“在全球化发展的今天,个人与全球领导力和创新思考与问题解决两门课程对帮助学生发展技能,助力学生获得成功十分重要。”


The Key Competencies are an important part of the Maple Leaf World School curriculum and are developed in all Maple Leaf Chongqing courses.

核心素养能力是枫叶世界学校课程重要的组成部分,贯穿所有课程教学。

Creative Thinking and Problem Solving 10 and 11 develop the Key Competencies of our students in a variety of ways. Recently, these courses have been focusing on the importance of play and games in developing creative thinking and problem-solving skills in our students.

10年级与11年级创新思考与问题解决课程从多方面培养学生核心素养能力。近期,课程教学注重通过游戏激发学生的创新思考与问题解决能力。

English Proficiency: Students are encouraged to speak English with their peers while they are playing the games. The games that students are playing are in English and students develop their English reading skills as they learn the rules of the games.

英语能力:在玩游戏的过程中,我们鼓励同学们与小组伙伴使用英语交流沟通,而同学们在玩英语游戏,阅读游戏规则的过程中也会锻炼自身的英语阅读能力。

Collaboration: Students play the games in small groups. They need to work together to play the games and ensure that they are a good group member. They also learn how to solve conflict and make sure that everyone understands and feels supported to be successful.

合作:同学们分小组进行游戏,并肩作战,完成游戏,而每个同学需确保个人对小组做出积极贡献。同学们还需要学会如何调节矛盾与分歧,让小组成员都能彼此理解,支持,最后获得团队胜利。



Creative Thinking: When playing games students develop the ability to think creatively as they try to find ways to win the games and participate in them. Many of the games do not have a set ending and students develop the ability to think creatively and deal with situations where the ending is not always clear.

创新思考:玩游戏时,同学们需探寻获得游戏胜利的方法并参与其中,所以同学们锻炼了创新思考能力。很多游戏并没有固定的解答方案,在面对没有确定答案的情形时,同学们需要打破思维定势,应对不同情境。

Problem Solving: When playing games students need to find ways to solve the problems that arise as they are playing. Games help students to deal with unexpected situations and find ways to persevere through these problems.

问题解决:玩游戏时,同学们需随时应对并找出方法解决问题。完成游戏意味着帮助同学们解决各种意想不到的难题并找到攻克难题的方法。



Reflective Thinking: When students have finished playing the game, they are asked to reflect on the skills that they have developed. Students develop their thinking and metacognition skills through these reflections.

反思:完成游戏之后,老师会让同学们反思在游戏过程中所习得的技能,因此同学们能锻炼自己的思维能力与元认知技能。

Personal Responsibility and Integrity: When students are playing the games, they develop their personal responsibility by making sure that they follow the rules of the game. Students also need to make sure that they do not break or damage the games so that they can continue to be played in the future.

个人责任与诚实:玩游戏时,同学们也增强了个人责任意识,保证自己遵守游戏规则,不能破坏或损毁游戏道具,确保游戏道具能在之后重复使用。



Leadership: Some students will know how to play the games or will learn to play more quickly than others. These students can develop their leadership by teaching students how to play the new games.

领导力:对比其他同学,有的同学能更快地理解或学会如何玩游戏,而这些同学也能在教其他同学玩游戏的过程中锻炼领导力。



The competencies that are developed through game play in Creative Thinking and Problem solving 10/11 can be transferred to many other aspects of students' lives to help them to be successful in high school and beyond.
