Yuchen Li
Yuchen Li, The First Chinese Student in Canada to Score Full Marks in the Commercial Pilot's Exam
A student learned from zero to a perfect score on the commercial pilot's exam. Li Yucheng said, "In my three years of high school, within the Maple Leaf educational system, my potential was found by this unique combination of Chinese and Western education. When I entered university, I was oftern amazed by how similar university classes were to Maple Leaf classes. Writing essays, doing the research, doing the teamwork , doing the presentation, and the way of critical thinking, which all of these skills I learned in high school helped me easily adapted and greatly performed in university. “When I saw no Chinese names on the aviation school's honor wall, I was determined to graduate as a top student.”

He achieved his promise when he graduated. This belief has been with him since he entered Maple Leaf. During his university life, he woke up at 6 a.m., and checked the plane at the airport. He would prepare for the weather, answering questions from the instructors, and participating in flying with the instructors. Then he would review the flight maneuvers, checking the weather again, executing a second flight, and finishing his studies of a day around 11 p.m.

Going abroad represents the performance of a Chinese. On the day of his graduation exam, with the condition of winds blowing at 22 knots and with unstable air currents, Yucheng successfully completed the commercial pilot's flight test, scoring 132 out of 132. He has become the first place in the entire province of British Columbia for that year.
