Yujia Wang
Yujia Wang, The Maple Leaf Graduate Student, Now the Cambridge Ph.D.
Yujia is a hardworking and highly gifted student. For perfectly complete a single assignment, she would spend an entire day in the school library. This is just to make her arguments and evidence more precise; When her classmates encountered academic difficulties, she would patiently explain and tutor them. She actively participated in the school's "shadow buddy" program, tutoring ESL mentees. This made her popular as the "gold medal tutor".
After graduating from Maple Leaf High School, Yujia was accepted by the Chemical Engineering program at Imperial College London with the highest score in Maple Leaf. During her university studies, she consistently ranked in the top 20% in her major, achieving excellence among the best students. In March of this year, the University of Cambridge offered Yujia a place in their Ph.D. program for Chemical Engineering.
Yujia had given a speech with strong feelings at her high school graduation ceremony, "Whenever we felt down, it was the counselors who accompanied us and guide us out of confusion. It was the Chinese and foreign teachers who tirelessly guided us to rise again. It was our classmates' consolation and help that healed the wounds in our hearts. It was our parents' strong support that broadened our horizons; In the family of Maple Leaf, we didn't just receive a combination of Chinese and Western elite education. We also learned critical thinking, gained teamwork skills, and improved our public speaking abilities. Thank you, Alma Mater!"
